Born 1944 in London, Weissmann's interest in painting arose at the age of about fourteen whilst admiring works by modern painters such as Picasso, Klee, Kandinsky and Jackson Pollock and this was further developed by contact with established living artists.
Studied Chelsea Art School from 1963 to 1967.
He was well known for a series of LSD paintings in the mid-sixties done whilst under the influence of this drug. 1966 he painted 'Brain Drain', one of the best examples of this psychedelic period. The work featured in the touring exhibition Les Sixties: France et Grande Bretagne 1960-1973 in Paris 1996 and in Brighton, 1997. He regularly exhibited paintings and photographs which are represented in private collections in Great Britain, Japan and the USA and also he praticed as a graphic designer.
In the late sixties, Weissmann continued to use spray-can lines which were influenced by Bernhard Cohen's Art Nouveau-derived spray paintings.
1970 his works on paper were shown at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge followed by one-man exhibitions at:
