1942 exhibited drawings at Lefevre Gallery, London, and paintings in his first solo exhibition at this gallery in 1946. Held a retrospective at Royal West of England Academy, Bristol, and another at the Whtechapel Gallery, London, 1962. Taught at Camberwell School of Art and Central School. His work can be found in many public collections, including the Tate. Vaughan's interest in the human figure is married to a formal control, inspired by Cezanne and De Stael among others.
