Padraig Macmiadhachain born 1929 in Ireland. Studied Belfast College of Art, 1947-1949. National College of Art, Dublin, 1950. Padraig was an outstanding contributor to the Irish Exhibitions of Living Art in the 1960s, alongside artists Gerald Dillion, Camille Souter, Louis Le Brocquy, amongst others. William Scott had a profound influence on his later work. Has lived and painted since 1959 on the Dorset coast, near to St Ives, where he is an associated member of The Penwith Society of Arts, St Ives. Held many one man and mixed exhibitions. These include over 15 one-man exhibitions in London. Madrid - sponsored by the Spanish Goverment. Dublin, Belfast - sponsored by The Arts Council. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Krakow, Los Angeles, Seattle and Vancouver. He was awarded travelling scholarships to both Moscow 1957 and Poland 1960, one by the British Council and the other by the Russian Goverment. His works in many Private and Public collections. |
