Biography

Born Sheffield, Yorkshire. Studied at RCA 1948-52. Won Abbey Major Scholarship to study in Italy, 1952-4. First solo show at Beaux Arts Gallery, London, 1953, holding another in 1955. Greaves became known as one of the Beaux Arts Quartet, which was better known as the Kitchen Sink School. He later moved away from this strong realism style to a more pure distilled form of image making, closer in style to that of Patrick Caulfield than any realist. Works held in many public collections.
